Pros: Great pictures, but patterns need to be updated
Cons: Way too many ads. Not enough innovative designs

"I would like to see this magazine get back to its roots by highlighting innovative patterns and a wider variety of quilt makers. In the last few years most of the patterns have been so ho-hum. I used to look forward to getting the magazine because it would inspire me to reach beyond simple patterns. Now all I see are simple patterns by the same quilters that mostly look alike. Further, many of the quilts lack the wow factor when it comes to color. I bet the contracted quilters are under such pressure to crank something out by deadline that they don't put a lot of thought into their work. I want to see blue ribbon quilts made by other people. One of the other reviewers pegged it right.....BORING. Sorry QNM, I will not be renewing you this year."

Pros: Towards the end, there is a few pages of how-to info
Cons: Too wordy and boring

"I've been quilting for about 3 years now and was looking for a magazine with a lot of great photos, how-to, neat tips, and ended up with a pretty boring magazine. If you are more into quilting news and not the how to stuff or what's new and cool, then get this. Otherwise, choose a different magazine. I have cancelled my order after receiving only two magazines. I tried to give it a second chance but it didn't work out."

Pros: Broad coverage of the most creative quilts, new and old
Cons: Complete patterns are usually not included

"New to quilting, and not really caring for boring traditional repetitive and plain quilts, this magazine offers the broadest information on quilting, in terms of history, various techniques, and basic how-to's to recreate the artist's technique on a sample block or two. Threre are also a lot of inspirational pictures and behind-the-scenes stories. I just wish they had bigger photos of the larger top art quillts so as to show more detail and texture."
